Introducing Austin Shen, Research Software Engineer

Austin is a research software engineer with the AusSRC, based at CSIRO. He is involved with the development of large-scale astronomical data post-processing systems for various Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) surveys, such as WALLABY and POSSUM.

This work includes developing features for astronomy software packages (e.g SoFiA-2), designing Nextflow pipelines, building custom web applications and packing data for public releases.

Austin brings his data processing and software experience support to the Science Delivery stream of the global SRCNet project.  In this work, he develops tools for running essential astronomical software at scale (e.g. wsclean, PyBDSF), which will be used by the community in science verification for SKA Low on the SRCNet platform.
