Are you working on SKA-related science?
Join the AusSRC Community Engagement Workshop
AusSRC invites the Australian SKA science community to take part in an upcoming Community Engagement Workshop focused on the AusSRC Science Enabling Projects (ASEPs).
As the community moves increasingly toward SKA Science Verification and SKA-era science, AusSRC wants to support researchers and project teams through this transition.
Following the success of the previous ASEP round, this workshop is an opportunity for the community to see AusSRC showcase its projects, and for researchers and project teams to discuss their science goals, explore where AusSRC support could help, and learn more about the types of projects that may be supported through the upcoming ASEP round.
What: Community workshop for researchers interested in AusSRC support for SKA-enabled and SKA-related science
Where: CSIRO Auditorium, Australian Resources Research Centre (ARRC), Perth, and Online
When: Wednesday 12th August, 9am – 3pm AWST
Register here by 3rd August 2026.
What will the workshop cover?
The workshop will showcase highlights from the projects supported through the previous ASEP round, celebrating the success of the program and demonstrating the kinds of science, software, workflows, and operational support AusSRC can provide to the community.
It will introduce the upcoming ASEP round, including the Expression of Interest (EoI) process, proposal pathway, assessment criteria, expected timelines, and new opportunities for support in this cycle.
Participants will also have the opportunity to present early project ideas and discuss topics such as implementation approaches and technical design considerations with members of the AusSRC science, software, and operations teams. Ideas can be tentative or exploratory at this stage. The workshop is intended to help shape strong, feasible proposals and help AusSRC identify where we can provide the most effective support.
Who is the workshop for?
The workshop is intended for those with an interest in SKA science, AusSRC and its projects, as well as individuals and teams with science projects that could benefit from AusSRC support. This may include projects using ASKAP, MWA, MeerKAT, or other multi-wavelength datasets relevant to SKA science, as well as projects contributing to broader SRCNet capabilities, and those that benefit the entire community.
Whether your project idea is well-developed or still at an early stage, we encourage you to attend, discuss your requirements, and explore how AusSRC may be able to support your project through the next ASEP round.
What kinds of support can be discussed?
As the community moves closer to SKA Science Verification, the scope of ASEP support is expected to gradually evolve with emerging SKA priorities. This round will continue to support projects connected to SKA-enabled science, SKA precursor data, and SRCNet priorities, particularly where they help build capability for SKA-era science.
Project ideas may include support for one or more of the following:
- Workflow or pipeline development
- Adapting, improving, or scaling existing tools
- Software development or optimisation
- Post-processing, analysis, or visualisation workflows
- Science support for using tools, services, or infrastructure
- New for this round: Operational Support, including support for deployment, hosting and improved implementation of tools/workflows
