The AusSRC is excited to introduce Courtney Carr as our Industry and External Engagement Lead.
Having spent her career working on a broad range of technology projects and consulting for clients across industries, and with a personal interest in astrophysics from a young age, Courtney is thrilled to be joining the international effort to enable exciting scientific opportunities for radio astronomers globally.

Courtney joins AusSRC from the IT professional services industry.
As part of the AusSRC administration team through the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA) Translation and Impact team, she will be tasked with supporting the translation of technologies, techniques, concepts, STEM knowledge, and skills to industry, with the purpose of engaging industry on complementary projects.
Courtney has previously led project teams to develop software in the mining and resources industry, implementing software solutions for government, insurance, banking and higher education clients. She has also provided IT and data security advisory and audit services to clients in the energy and healthcare industries, and supported various industries with technology-enabled process improvement initiatives.
In her spare time, Courtney serves as a volunteer board member for the not-for-profit organisation Women in Technology WA (WiTWA). Through WiTWA, she has been involved in many outreach initiatives. This includes serving as the former Virtual Reality Coordinator for the future STEM skills program.
A highlight during her time at WiTWA has been conducting high school incursions at rural schools, such as Karratha and Merredin, to demonstrate scientific research outcomes through interactive VR experiences.
Courtney now leads the WiTWA events team, overseeing community events to facilitate industry networking, technical knowledge exchanges, and DEI masterclasses.
